General BTCC Support series discussion

So how about it?

Postby jenson09 on Wed Dec 05, 2007 6:51 pm

o I know not eveyone will want to rac the same car all the time. This will give people the chance to play around abit.

My initial thoughts here were for something like a Clio cup or even a VXR Cup, something like the Dunlop Cup that runs in the UK.

The support race could run either at a different time entirely so more people have more of a chance to race or on the same day as the main race to give it moe of a raceday feel.

I guess cars would be less tuned mechanically and visually too.

Suggestions? Ideas?

If you do one of these, I reckon it should be the new Renaultsport Clio 197. However if people are up for a Support series, but if they don't all have the Clio 197, then I would say go for the Clio V6.

some nice ideas here but wouldn't it be cool to have a little Pontiac Solstice Cup like here in the US like that show on speed channel Setup
that would be pretty cool

Seen this post and thought i'd add my bit, what a quality idea!!

What about a one make series, Clio's , Seats, wouldn't make any difference, but keep all the cars exactly the same, no tuning at all.

Maybe only put on F2 splitters and wing, with race tyres and brakes with full weight reduction,
to improve handling.

If everyone was interested i'd be willing to supply the cars free of charge, that way theres no excuses, " i don't have that car / no money for car etc etc " It would add a good bit of fun to our racing, and a good warm up before the main event.

A sprint race of 5 - 7 laps, full sim, with contact allowed ( within reason obviously ) but no bumper car racing.

There were 8 of us on Sunday so we should get at least that many people, surely. Hope theres some interest, this would be cool.

PS if we do Ford Focus ST ( awesome car ) i could supply straight away with different paint for each person, got a wee bit of a collection going on and i'm more than happy to share.

We could sort out the men from the boys, show who possesses real skill and not just the fastest car.

My fave idethat I had was to basically run the SEAT Cupra Cup...we hve the ACTUAL Cup cars available to us thru the DLC so that could work. I think they're damn fun cars to drive and look great too.
I agree with zero tuning and race tyres thoug. I want any support series to be about driver skill not tuner ability (which I suck at)

How about a GT4 series with cars like the M3, Mustang, Exige, Cayman, 350Z, and the Audi TT.

it would only be an extra 15mins or so, could still start at 8pm just finish a wee bit later.

I'm totally up for it, i reckon it should be compulsary to take part :)

would make for a quality bit of racing

Calling to everyone, show some interest so we can get this off the ground

thie thing I really like bout this if its gonna be all the same cars and no upgrades it will be totally down to the driver and not the car, I would really like to see this as to who is the fastest and better driver then who has the fastest and better handling car

thats the idea the racing would be really close too

if we do the next 7 races with the support race before, i'll guarantee a prize at the end 1st / 2nd / 3rd
1M credit
750k
500k

that must be enticing surely

is there no way to make this post so that everyone must read it?? seems some havent checked it out
