I'll kick things off with thankyou to all the drivers who took part in round 1 of the season at the Nurburgring Grand Prix.It was a great start to the season and although there were only 5 cars on the grid we all still managed to have a great race.Congratulations to Vortex for winning closely followed by Highcroft.Jenson and myself had a few tussles but he managed to out pace me in the end and come 3rd.Subway had problems with turn 5 in particular which sadly put him at the back, but knowing the Sub...He'll be back with a vengance.
I look forward to next weeks race at the short Okutama sprint circuit and hope you can all make it.Lets hope a few more people will join to fill up the grid a bit more so spread the word.

Yep...a good first even....1 driver more than the BGT had at its debut race and look where we've got to!!

For me it was a quiet race, an early spin put me back but once I was past SubwayDave it was a case of putting in consistent lap times and catching Clay... we had a good few laps of near passes before I got by and gapped him to nearly 5 seconds before losing traction at turn 2 and spinning onto the infield allowig him past.
A series of qualifying type laps put me back on his tail but wisened to my technique the bloke was sooooo much harder to pass!!!
I evetually got by into thid which I held to the flag. The gap to Highcrof being some 18-20 seconds there was littl chance of making anymore positions. The nature of the track meant the field was very spread out so the battle with Clay was the highpoint.
THR's first podium of the season in any catagory is a positive to draw from the weekend. Lets hope this boosts the team to greater things in future.

i enjoyed the race myself.

whilst having no tcs or abs i found it harder than having the assists on.

in a test session before the race i found a bit of speed but i was not sure i would be quick enough, during the qualifying i tried to hook onto the back of my new teamate clay gryphon for a bit of draft for that extra speed, which workerd out well as i got pole from 5tenths. :)

On the practice start i noticed that i lost alot of ground to jenson going flat out at the start so i used alot less gas at the start of the actual race, altough i was neck to neck with highcroft going into the first corner having the inside was a huge advantage. i managed to put soe quick lap times at the start of the race and gapped second place. i only had one scare when i scraped the tyre wall on the last corner.

looking forward to the next race now and should be a challenge with the F3 which are not as grippy as F1000.

Round 2 : Okutama Sprint Circuit

Postby Clay Gryphon on Fri Jul 04, 2008 6:44 am

Round 2 ** Okutama Sprint Circuit **
What an Intense race !! A short circuit but quite technical with lots of blind bends.I got off to a good start and had a trouble free race and led until the 3rd quarter when the pace of Vortex was too much to hold back,He got in front and although I started to catch him ,he kept his cool ,opened the lead back up and won the race. Highcroft came in a close 3rd behind me and I think he was catching me in the end.A gallant effort by Subway Dave who hadn't managed to do any testing on the track, came in 4th.Well done to Vortex who has started the season with back to back victories, but as the season progresses I can see Highcroft uping his game and challenging for the lead.Sadly I think Jenson's passport ran out and he couldn't make it to the race..I think he's still stuck in Japanese customs !!

I must apologise for not turning up.
Have had a really rough time these last couple of days so completely forgot about the race.

I'll be on hand next week and back in the BTCC on Tuesday though :)

fought i should have a say on the race for those who are interested.

the race started badly as in qualifying me and 'sub' could not keep apart as we collided on the first hot lap. the second qualifying ap also went badly as i had major oversteer so i started at the back of the pack.

on the start it did not go well as i had no traction and i saw the rest gain a 2second lead.

later on as i catched gryphon on lap 13 i crashed into the tyre wall on the last corner losing 10seconds. 30 laps later i manatched to catch up with gryphon and this time made the pass fort he lead.
it was a good race and with no testing, (wrong car i tested), i am wanting to make a larger gap between me and second :)

It was another victory for Vortex 143,so thats 3 in a row, what a start to the season.Vortex got off to a good start with Clay having a scrappy first half of the race, the second half was better but by then the gap was too big to close up.Congratulations to Vortex 143 and we look forward to the next race at Jarama.

It was my first online race on xbox (did some GTR2 on the PC before). I use the wireless steering wheel and sit quite close to my 50 inch screen when I race, so the immersion is fantastic. Especially while racing online. During this race I had to adjust my goals quite a few times. Discarding hopes of winning after Vortex's qualifying times, then trying to remain in 2nd place, then after being passed up by Clay trying not to run into him from behind (which I failed at). Then trying to keep up with them and finally trying not to be lapped. Multiplayer racing is quite different from offline, because you are quite busy trying to keep your nerves under control. Thanks for some good fun guys.

Racing online is definately a different experience. If that was your first time you did very well, you kept cool and didn't complain unlike lots of people do in public races. This is why we have this site, its only for people who love there raciing and appreciate other drivers talent. You'll definatley improve as I have done when you race with these guys.I'm glad you enjoyed it and Hopefully we'll see this championship grow and have more people racing.Glad to have you onboard.

Race commentary 31/07/08 Washington Grand Prix Circuit......

Postby johnbe2 on Thu Jul 31, 2008 10:08 pm

Round 6 ##### Washington Grand Prix Circuit #####

This was a fun race from my perspective. We had a rocky start as I heard Gixerben2008 total his car behind me and I did a nice pirouette soon thereafter that surely increased my rollover achievement level. We realized of course, that damage was on and decided to restart the race because of it. I used automatic shifting this time and I did much better. I still had a few crashes into the white tires but I was able to close the gap again in spite of it. Once I even tried to sneak by the leading Vortex 143 after he got into some trouble and touched the planks in a fast S curve. Unfortunately he didn't expect me coming and we touched tires in a Coulthard style passing maneuver. Then we had some network problems after 12 rounds that forced a restart. It's much more fun to chase opponents than to grind down lonely laps as I did in last weeks race at Jarama.

#### Round 6 Washington Grand Prix Review ####

This washington Street Ciruit certainly took the championship to a new level. This was a very technical track with lots of hidden Traps that most of us encountered through the race, which started well only to be stopped by the stewards due to a rule infringement. It was then restarted and ran for the next 12 laps with the lead changing constantly due to crashes and spin outs.On lap 12 the race was red flagged due to Connection problems for Gixerben2008 and Vortex. The race was then Restarted for the remaining 8 laps in the order of running and completed with another fine win from Vortex followed by an epic drive from Johnbe2,with me comming in third.Sadly Gixerben2008 couldn't get his connection back for the restart but was awarded 4th place regardless.
I would just like to thank all drivers for there patience and fair play throughout this Grand Prix, which just goes to prove races can be run well online regardless of problems and incidents and underlines the quality of this site when it comes to serious and fun racing.Well done to all.
