Some BTCC pics from Sunset....

Postby jenson09 on Thu Jun 19, 2008 6:24 pm

ONly a couple so far but am sloooowly working my way through the footage to get some more....

Image
Sums up most of the races...an all SEAT affair mainly between the WKD and Team Orange boys. As with Rockingham, the second corner wold prove the major test on cold tyres....

Image
Sure enough jenson09 slid wide, making contact with one of the WKD drivers (LUCKIER?). This shot viewed from the (nearly) on board cam of ck in his Halfords Civic. Both SEAT's would recover quickly with typical BTCC aggression.

Image
In the meantime ck gets stuckin with Shedden-esque driving precision and hunger. Mixing it up with the front running MARCHIE and JAMMY D before coming under attack from the resurgent LUCKIER and jenson09.

Image
Perhaps its the fact he drives Jason Plato's car, perhaps there was something in the water but this is DEFINITELY the Plato line into a open hairpin!
If ck thought he had taken it tight enough he hadn't betted on jenson09 and some little rallycross action....of course learning from JP has its problems and they usually result in cars in bits or in the air...this time was no different but not by much!

Sure enough collision ensued with ck accidentaly fishtailing jenson09 across his front and taking both into the wall.

Jenson09 quickly pitted for new tyres... not much could be done for the now very BTCC-esque SEAT
Image

The pitstop was a quick turn around and following a close exit, LUCKIER had to fight hard to pass jenson09 now on fresh rubber and in firey form.
This was the intimidating view back to the WKD SEAT that the THR man endured for several laps.
Image

A close tussle ensued, seeing the two swap places a number of times including this carbon copy of the move on ck brenneke a few laps previous.
Turn 6 was fast becoming jenson09's corner of the day.
Image

All the action behind allowed JAMMY D to continue unmollested (reletively) to another win, making two of two. Depressing reading for the other team managers.
Image

But victory was only assured after an inspired outlap helped the Team Orange driver just edge out MARCHIE after the leading WKD man had pitted. It could not have been closer, but after this pass, JAMMY D was un-catchable.
Image

ckbrenneke and his trusty Civic fougt boldly to keep pace with the SEAT's running away ahead, but still scored valuable points.
Image

Given the pace of the leading three there would be significant head scratching back at base not only for the Halfords boys but for the works SEAT affair run by THR who had an identical car the lead trio...or so they thought. When the difference in preparation would show between the big four it was the THR/ SEAT Sport UK car that seemed lacking.
Image

The final race, and with jenson09 making a last gasp break away it was the turn of ck brenneke to get spat out at the treacherous first hairpin, after making contact with JAMMY D. The Halfords driver would perform some neat rallycross in his return to the track but was now well down on threst of pack and any realistic chance of overhauling many of them now minimal.

Meanwhile, jenson09 held out a slim lead, closely followed by second race combatant LUCKIER....let the mugging begin!
Image

Except it was the WKD driver who felt his pockets empited as an ambitious lunge into the back straight saw him come under pressure from team mate MARCHIE and JAMMY D in the super quick Orange SEAT. All the while the yellow SEAT was disappearing up the road.
Image

One lap later and LUCKIER, having passed his team mate, would see the inevitable. The THR car lacked straightline speed and this had allowed JAMMY D onto the bootlid of jenson09. Through the twisty sections the THR man made his the widest SEAT but at the cost of straightline speed.
Image

Jenson09 ran wide into the final series of corners allowing JAMMY D to slip up the inside and break away, exactly what the WKD driver behind didn't want. With a clear road surely there would be another certain victory for JAMMY D.
Image

Yet an inspired drive from the WKD driver would see the JAMMY D stranglehold broken and a WKD victory...albeit another SEAT one.
Image

ckbrenneke drove the wheels off the Civic all day. Praise must go ot to his persistance safe in the knowledge this was not the car's strongest circuit and the chances of victory were low. However points mean prizes and with an unstable entry list every point counts.
Image

Who says touring cars is boring these days???

edit: more added :)

Some of my pics. In rough order, mostly taken from Race 1.

Image
Craigsteralex bins the Integra during free practice, leading to a red flag for the session while the marshalls clean up. Team Halfords worked until the last minute to rebuild the car.

Image
The cars launch off the grid at the start of race 1.

Image
The Seats lead into turn 1.

Image
The racing is tight as the Team WKD boys swamp Jenson09.

Image
The THR/Seat Sport UK Leon pushes hard to keep the pressure on Jammy.

Image
The pack sticks close through the first lap.

Image
Contact between Marchie and Jenson09...

Image
...allows Team Halfords to take advantage.

Image
Getting a look up the inside.

Image
Marchie gets the run after ckBrenneke takes the corner too wide.

Image
Jammy got out in front and stayed there.

Image
Jenson09 sets his sights on getting past ckBrenneke.

Image
A friendly nudge reminds ckBrenneke of Jenson09's determination.

Image
Jenson09 draws alongside as the two head into the esses side by side...

Image
...which doesn't work, leaving ckBrenneke in the tyres.

Image
Craigsteralex and Jenson09 vying for position into turn 4.

Image
Jenson09 understeers off at turn 6 allowing Craigsteralex through in the Halfords Integra. Shortly later Jenson 09 would retire with mechanical problems.

Image
Craigsteralex coaxes everything from his aging Integra.
If in doubt, flat out - Colin McRae

Thanks, really should enter some of my pics one day, worth a try, but I have tried before and never won anything. Same with the livery comps.

Glad you like them.

Yaeh Ive enteed their livery comp loads of times but they seem just to go for the REALLY complex stuff some of which is just plain messy to me n not always real. t also seems to be bloody Japanese drift stuff Never seen a touring car win and its a LOOOONG time since I saw a good non-ALMS GT car win.
I think theres an allergy to the FIA GT's or the British GT's for that matter lol.

Yeah, agreed. But I've learnt a lot about taking photos in Forza 2 from the livery comps, so I might try my hand again soon.
