We can now confirm that the car to be run in the BTCC support series is the 2008 SEAT Leon Cupra, as driven by Jason Plato and Darren Turner in the Hi Q MSA British Touring Car Championship.

THR can confirm jenson09 as a driver but is still on the look out for a second driver for the team.

SEAT bouyed by recent testing form.
Following a round the world testing regime THR SEAT Sport was hugely impressed with the speed shown by the new LEon TDI that will be driven this year.
The comparitive times show over a second to the next best car. The car was said to feel very stable under load and responded well to set up changes. Hopes are currently high for the season ahead.

Since you asked me a couple weeks back, I am now going to confirm as of now, I will be giving season 1 a miss most likely. Unless the race meetings, happen on either Tuesday or Wednesday, than I may race in season 1.

THR SEAT Sport UK can now confirm that it will be conducting an attack on the BTCC with at least two cars this year.
The drivers will be
#11 jenson09

#8 TVR Fan

The team will conduct a number of pre-season tests prior to the start of the new support championship. This will be run in tandem with the drivers GT duties.

jenson09 had this to say:
"The BTCC series, though run as a fun project for THR will be tken just as seriously as any of our racing projects. We are here to win and make no mistake. The TDI is a strong car, its a proven race winner in the WTCC and we feel wecan extract that potential from them too."

"I have had the pleasure of running a few practice events with various other drivers and had alot of fun. I think this can be a grea series and would urge others to join in."

"Having TVR Fan on side is a major boost to our chances in this. It also gives me even more chance to get to know my new team mate!"

I really think we can have a strong season.

Following a major test and a series of private entry races THR/SEAT Sport UK is in confident mood leading up to the first rounds of the BTCC. The potential of the TDI SEAT is clear its now just down to fine details and little increments of tuning. Following the success of Plato and Turner at Donington Park last weekend the morale could not be higher in the team.
In the meantime, testing continues with the two drivers spliting their workload between BTCC and GT duties. It is possible LilMissNephnie MAY be drafted in from the GT ranks to cover extra test mileage and allow the race drivers to focus better.
