Limits on car manufacturers

Postby Clay Gryphon on Mon May 19, 2008 7:37 am

Would it be possible in season 3 to not limit the numbers of car types to just 6 per model.I can understand it's good to have lots of different makes in the championship but as we know there are some models that have a deffinate advarntage over others, the Gallardo for instance,I can beat all my times i've set with my season 2 car using this car but all models have been allocated.I'm sure other racers would have chosen different cars if they were available.

Clay.

maybe some kind or allercation system ie who the champ is gets to pick first then runner up get to pick 2nd etc etc or maybe go the oppersite and let the guy who finished last pick first etc etc as this would either close the field up and show its the driver and not the car or not

I see your point, but that could get complicated.Rather than PI maybe limit the HP of cars.I think it would be easier to let people drive what they want. Some people prefer AWD and some prefer RWD cars. There still will be a good selection of cars.

So, you'd pick the Gallardo if you could.

So how many other people would do this?

You'd get like 15 AWD's and 2 Ferrari's.

I say random allocations

I have to say that I'm very close to my times in the TT and maybe quicker on some tracks,so its not that big a difference.I like your idea of random allocations,it would stop the first come first serve rule. Some cars just suit an individuals style of driving. The 430 , even though a good car , just didn't suit mine .So I suppose you either ramdonly allocate cars or let people chose what they want to be fair.

everyone wants to be in a competative car, no system other than un-restricted car choice will allow for that, if it's first come first serve then some lose out, if it's random you could end up with something you hate. This is one that can and probably will be debated for a long time and not just in this series. Jenson created the rules for a purpose and that is to create a variety on the circuit. Like it or not it works and makes for good racing.

I agree it makes for interesting racing, but what happens say next season when everyone in, say the Gallardo's,wants to keep the same car .What if someone joins like I did this season and can't drive that car because they've all been allocated.I'm not complaining ,I'm happy with my choice, just trying to make it a fairer system. Not everyone will drive the same car anyway.

i think the ONLY solution is to reduce the PI of the dominant cars.

it doesnt carry over from one season to the next. at the end of season 2 before season 3 there will be a signup to decide what car to use for season 3 and again its a matter of having tested the cars so that you'll be in a postion quickly to decide which will suit you and sign up for it first. A lot of people have signed up for either the gallardo or the audi r8 and have changed their minds after testing

culchi is correct the signup for each season is separate so we all get a fair chance to get the car we want.

The nature of this system means that yes you get an unfairness if you are in the season late BUT the racing is good, the cars are varied and everyone has fum.

In ancase...theres a chance I might just turn the series on its head for s3 ;)
Do you want to go faster?

After reading one of the other forums I understand that the Gallardo has been restricted to 930.I wasn't aware this was the case.

to be honest im totally with jenson on this one. fair enough you might miss out on that one car you want to use, just means you have to work a bit harder on something else.

ive changed my mind on 4 different cars since my 1st choice and only now am happy with what ive got and i only selected that one less than a week ago.

so it goes to show that even if you do get to select late then you still have every chance of being happy.
