CASTROL SPONSOR TEAM DYNAMICS ENTRY

Team Dynamics, the crew behind Team Halfords, have announced a third car being run as an independant entry. The car, driven by Team Halfords test driver and stand-in Craigsteralex, is the Honda Integra Type R that was run under the Team Halfords banner at Sunset Infield two weeks ago.

In keeping with the BTCC rules, the entry is running independant from the two Civics that Dynamics currently run for ckBrenneke and garyp3398. Although any points scored will not count towards the teams championship for Halfords, Craigsteralex can score towards the drivers' title.

"The Integra was rushed into service for Sunset Infield, after being in storage," Craigsteralex said yesterday. "The decision to run the car was made late in the day when it was apparent that garyp3398 would not be able to compete. So we had little time to adequately test and set the car up. That, coupled with the accident I had in free practice, meant that we were uncompetitive, and I had to retire the car after the first race with technical problems.

"The guys have worked hard to rebuild the car over the past fortnight, and they have done a great job. It is potentially race winning. We reconfigured the engine to produce more torque, and it handles superbly well in early tests.
"Castrol have been working with Team Halfords since the start of the season, and we are delighted to have them onboard as partners. To promote this, we decided to produce a new livery for the Castrol-sponored Integra."

In related news, as the BTCC moves to the third meeting of the season at Suzuka East, Halfords driver garyp3398 looks set to make his debut in the series. Unable to compete in the previous two meetings (with Craigsteralex standing in for him at Sunset Infield), garyp3398 is looking forward to getting out and mixing it with the other drivers in the series.

"We looked at the telemetry we brought back from Sunset Infield from ckBrenneke's car, and used that information to improve the Civic," garyp3398 commented. "We've squeezed extra torque from the engine, and retuned the set-up to improve our handling, so we should see a stronger performance from the Civic at Suzuka East. In initial testing, I posted a 51.3, with ckBrenneke in the low 52s. So we're eager to get out and push the car under race conditions."
If in doubt, flat out - Colin McRae
